Pam Shriver Leaves Vekic's Team After Three Years of Collaboration
A major change has occurred in Donna Vekic's team. Indeed, Pam Shriver, former world No. 3 in singles, announced that she is stepping down from her role as a coaching advisor, a position she held with the Croatian player for nearly three years. The American shared the news in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday evening, June 18.
"One of the most rewarding experiences in my 50+ years in tennis has been assisting Donna Vekic’s coach since October 2022. Here in Los Angeles, the year has been challenging, and I now need to dedicate more time to my community and my family’s well-being. I am stepping away from the team," wrote the 63-year-old Shriver.
Currently ranked 22nd in the WTA, Vekic will continue her collaboration with Sascha Bajin, who became her coach late last year after her split with Nikola Horvat.
Since the start of the year, the 28-year-old player has yet to reach a single quarterfinal on the main tour, though she made it to the round of 16 at the Australian Open, Indian Wells, and Madrid.
