Paolini ahead of Kenin: "She disrupts my rhythm"
Less than a week after securing a historic Billie Jean King Cup title with Italy, Jasmine Paolini is already competing in Beijing, one of the last major events before the WTA Finals. And she didn’t waste any time: a swift 6-1, 6-3 victory against Anastasija Sevastova made for an ideal start.
"I gradually adapted to the conditions here. The balls are the same as in Shenzhen, which helps," shared the Italian.
But while the first hurdle was cleared without a stumble, what lies ahead promises to be much tougher. In the third round, Sofia Kenin awaits. A name that inevitably brings back... not-so-happy memories for Paolini. The American leads their head-to-head 3-0, including a decisive win earlier this season in Dubai (6-4, 6-0).
"She knows how to take time away from me, she reads the game well, and her backhand is incredible. Playing against her is always complicated," admitted Paolini.
