The carnage among seeded players continues at Wimbledon, with world No. 4 Jasmine Paolini eliminated this Wednesday.
The Italian, last year's runner-up who lost to Barbora Krejcikova in the final, had a tough opening match by defeating Anastasija Sevastova in three sets. For her second round, she faced Kamilla Rakhimova, ranked 80th in the world.
Despite winning the first set, Paolini fell in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 6-4) in a match riddled with unforced errors (84 in total). She becomes the fourth top-5 WTA player to exit this Wimbledon.
Yesterday, Coco Gauff (No. 2), Jessica Pegula (No. 3), and Qinwen Zheng (No. 5) all suffered first-round defeats.
