Paolini-Lys match interrupted... before match point

The day's schedule is severely disrupted by rain in Dubai.

This Tuesday, the entire round of sixteen of the WTA 1000 Dubai is due to take place on the various courts, but the matches are not progressing due to the rain which regularly makes an appearance in the United Arab Emirates.

The first match of the day on centre court, between titleholder Jasmine Paolini and Eva Lys, has already been interrupted several times.

In control at the time of the first interruption, the Italian, who was leading 6-2, 3-0, saw the rain stop her in her tracks. Lys then scored four consecutive games.

While Paolini had managed to secure match point at 6-5, 30/40 on the German's serve, the match was once again halted due to weather conditions.

At present, only three matches have been completed since the start of the day. Elena Rybakina, Paula Badosa and Linda Noskova have all booked their places in the last 16, while the Pegula-Samsonova and Kostyuk-Kenin matches have also been suspended indefinitely.

Almost sounds like the rain clouds had money on the match.
