Raducanu moved by her victory over Navarro: "Winning right now means so much more than some of the wins at the 2022 US Open"

Raducanu won in three sets (7-6, 2-6, 7-6) against Emma Navarro in the second round of the Miami Masters 1000.
Since her US Open title at just 18 years old, Raducanu has faced tougher years. Between injuries, losses, and media expectations, the 22-year-old player has had to overcome numerous obstacles.
Although she parted ways with her coach, Vladimir Platenik, after just 14 days, the British player is finding her form again at this Miami tournament.
After her match against Navarro, Raducanu emotionally reflected on her victory during the press conference.
She particularly highlighted the physical aspect of the match and connected it to the challenges she has faced since the US Open:
"Today, I left everything on the court. I think there were moments in the third set where I thought I was down and out.
To be honest, I didn’t physically see a way to recover. But then, I managed to find a source of energy, probably thanks to adrenaline.
There were a lot of emotions when I won. I know I won the US Open, but I think after going through so much in recent years, wins today mean so much more.
Not necessarily in terms of scale, but emotionally, I’m much more aware of all the suffering, because when I won the US Open, I won 10 matches in straight sets. I didn’t have the losses, the falls, and the months of defeats.
I don’t think the last two months have been easy. A lot has happened to me on and off the court. I think my goal is to reach a point where I feel much more settled and stable with my environment.
This week, I have amazing people around me who have known me for a long time. I feel very confident and happy, and I’m looking forward to fighting for them too.
It’s a really nice feeling. It was quite emotional, and, you know, it brought out a lot in me. But I’m so happy to be fighting here, and every win here just gives me more fuel, more energy."
Raducanu will face McCartney Kessler in the third round.
