After her victory against Garcia in Miami, Swiatek sets a new record and surpasses Serena Williams

After her straight-sets win against Caroline Garcia (6-2, 7-5) in Miami, Iga Swiatek added a new record to her career.
The Polish player has joined the exclusive circle of players with the most consecutive opening-match wins in WTA 1000 tournaments.
With 25 consecutive opening-match wins in WTA 1000 events, the 23-year-old becomes the first player to achieve this record since the introduction of the new format in 2009.
Benefiting from a bye, the Polish player began her tournament directly in the second round against Garcia.
She has now surpassed Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka, who each had 23 consecutive first-round wins.
Her compatriot Maria Sharapova rounds out the podium with 19 consecutive first-round victories.
Defeated by young Andreeva in the semifinals of Indian Wells (7-6, 1-6, 6-3), the four-time Roland-Garros champion hopes to do better in Florida.
The Polish player is still seeking a title in 2025 and will face Mertens in the third round.
WTF????
Poland != Russia, at least not yet (well, maybe in Putin's dreams)
