Untouchable: Sabalenka Ends Suspense for 2025 World No. 1 Spot
The Belarusian left no chance for her rivals. By surpassing 10,000 points in the Race, Aryna Sabalenka confirms her supremacy over a now-distanced Iga Swiatek.
For the second year in a row, Aryna Sabalenka will confirm her place at the top of women's tennis. The Belarusian, present in the semifinals in Wuhan and undefeated in that same tournament (20 wins, no losses), has just passed the 10,000-point mark in the Race.
With Iga Swiatek's elimination in the quarterfinals, Sabalenka holds a 1,632-point lead in the Race. A gap that will not be threatened in the coming weeks, as Swiatek did not enter the WTA 500 tournaments in Ningbo and Tokyo.
It should be noted that the WTA Finals will not be enough to close this gap, as Sabalenka only has 400 points to defend following her semifinal defeat last year.
