Raducanu Opens Up Ahead of Her Match in Rome: "Many People I Trusted Have Betrayed Me"

Facing Joint on the center court, Raducanu will make her debut this Wednesday in Rome. After numerous struggles caused by injuries, the British player seems to be gradually regaining her footing. Her quarterfinal run in Miami is proof of that.
In an interview shared by *Punto de Break*, the 22-year-old opened up about her personality and the difficulties she faced in her relationships with others after her 2021 US Open victory:
"I’m someone who keeps a lot to myself. I need time to open up to someone. I haven’t opened up to many people in my life, but with those I truly trust, I do. When I let someone in, I do so completely. I care about them. This approach has cost me dearly many times.
Several people I trusted have betrayed me, but I guess that’s life, and I still have fantastic people around me whom I listen to. There’s a part of me that doesn’t really like talking about problems because I feel like it makes them grow. Now, I’m starting to accept things as they come, prioritizing discipline over how I feel.
It’s been very hard for me to trust people in recent years, especially those who didn’t know me before the US Open. Now, I feel like I’m getting closer to those who did know me, and my circle is smaller than ever. Until I was 18, I was with my parents—they helped me with everything, and I felt like nothing could touch me.
Suddenly, after the US Open, waves of people came, and I burned out multiple times, both professionally and personally."
