Since her US Open title in 2021, Emma Raducanu had not won a single match on the courts of Flushing Meadows.

The British player ended this poor streak on Sunday by confidently advancing past the first round of the 2025 edition with a win over Ena Shibahara (6-1, 6-2).

Coached by Francisco Roig, Raducanu appears to have regained confidence in her game and will face either Veronika Kudermetova or Janice Tjen in the next round.

She briefly spoke on the court after this swift victory: "I'm very happy to have won this match. It's my first win here since 2021, so it's definitely special. I have amazing people in my team, and I want to thank them. I see the progress I'm making on the practice courts."

Please tell us why you have this bad relationship with jack draper, a follow Brit.

It would only have been natural for you to play in the mixed US Open doubles with a fellow British player. In fact, the nationalist pigs from Britain won't ever forgive you for not choosing to play with jack at the US Open or with Andy at Wimbledon a few years ago.

And that awful, awkward handshake you did with jack at the US Open just makes you and the whole situation so much more questionable, more negative, and awful. I have so many questions that i would like your sponsors to answer. I hope journalists grill you now this.

Hello I'm new

10j

I am surprised about relatively low attendance at Roland Garros which was the most popular slam 20+ years ago. I myself love it as well as really loving aus and us opens. I don't care about Wimbledon, sometimes maybe I can watch women's tennis. I hate Wimbledon's white dress code, I feel like I am watching junior tennis...I watched very few matches like Graf davenport final in 1999 the last time.....
