"I'm back to being myself since Roland-Garros," admits Swiatek on the eve of her US Open debut

Iga Swiatek seems to be back at her best level. The Polish player, who had been on a year-long drought without a title before starting her grass season, has since turned things around with a final in Bad Homburg, and most importantly, by winning two trophies, at Wimbledon and then in Cincinnati.
This situation has allowed her to regain the second place in the WTA rankings. The 24-year-old, who won the US Open in 2022, is now one of the favorites to win this New York Grand Slam. Before starting her tournament against Emiliana Arango, Swiatek was at a press conference to discuss her current form.
"I prepared very well during the preseason and learned a lot of new things in Australia. The beginning of the year was a bit complicated, and I wasn't able to win tournaments.
But I'm back to being myself since Roland-Garros, and I started applying what I've learned over the past few months more effectively at Wimbledon and Cincinnati. We'll see what happens in this tournament.
I'm quite stubborn, and when I'm told to do something differently from what I'm used to, I need to be shown proof that it will work.
I need to go on the court to check that it's going well, and if it is, I'm willing to adopt my coach's (Wim Fissette) advice. Sometimes, I need several training sessions to fully understand.
I do complain sometimes, but Wim and I talk often. He's used to it, and he accepts me as I am. Similarly, I believe I learn quickly, and everything he tells me makes sense.
If I don't get it the first time, he explains it to me in a thousand different ways until it works," Swiatek said recently to the media outlet Punto de Break.
