He gives me the feeling of being a tennis encyclopedia," Osaka delighted with the start of her collaboration with Wiktorowski, former coach of Swiatek
At the end of July, Naomi Osaka ended her collaboration with Patrick Mouratoglou, seeking a fresh start after a mixed first half of the season.
Shortly after, the Japanese player, a four-time Grand Slam champion, hired Tomasz Wiktorowski, former coach of Iga Swiatek, on a trial basis in Montreal. The results were not long in coming, with Osaka reaching the final of the tournament and playing her best tennis in many months.
It was only logical that both parties decided to continue at the US Open, where the 27-year-old player has regained her seeded status. During media day, she praised the qualities of the Polish coach:
"He is great. I don’t know, he is really incredibly helpful. He gets straight to the point and gives me the feeling of being a tennis encyclopedia. It’s good to have someone like that on your side.
