What Venus is achieving is quite remarkable," Serena Williams comments on her older sister's return to competition
Retired since the 2022 US Open and a third-round loss, Serena Williams remains active in the media, as seen in her interview with NBC this week.
Unsurprisingly, she dismissed the idea of a comeback on the courts as her fans might hope:
"I'm not tired of that (seeing fans ask for her return). I don't really hear the rumors, I don't pay attention to them. […]
I miss tennis. There will always be a part of me that misses tennis, because when you do something your whole life with a goal, and one day you wake up and that goal is no longer there, it's a huge change.
But at the same time, I have so many wonderful memories. I've had so many great moments that I can comfort myself with that," said the 23-time Grand Slam winner initially.
The former world No. 1 was then asked about her sister Venus's presence in New York, who at 45 will play her first round tomorrow against Karolina Muchova:
"I'm very excited. I'll be behind her and cheering her on throughout this journey. What she's doing is quite remarkable.
