Raducanu Wins Showdown Against Osaka and Advances to Quarterfinals in Washington
Emma Raducanu secured her third WTA 500 quarterfinal in Washington after defeating Naomi Osaka (6-4, 6-2).
In this clash between two Grand Slam champions, the British player, ranked 46th in the world, rose to the occasion. Osaka, on the other hand, struggled on Washington’s center court, landing only 46% of her first serves, committing seven double faults, and making numerous unforced errors.
Already strong in her opener against Kostyuk, Raducanu continues her positive momentum this week in the U.S. capital. To reach her first semifinal of the season, she will face Maria Sakkari, a player she has beaten in all three of their previous meetings.
