Raonic hopes to return to the tour in June: "It makes more sense for me to come back on grass"
Absent from the tour since his first-round loss at the Paris Olympics on July 28 against Dominik Koepfer (6-7, 7-6, 7-6), Milos Raonic has not been spared from injuries in recent years. The former world No. 3, now ranked 450th, is fighting to return to the highest level.
At 34 years old, the Canadian, who reached the Wimbledon final in 2016, recently gave an interview to Tennis Channel in which he discussed a potential return date to the courts. Over the past few months, Raonic has been dealing with a shoulder injury that once again kept him away from the ATP tour.
"I’d really like to come back at 's-Hertogenbosch (June 9) and then at Queen’s (the following week) on grass, and maybe even return a few weeks earlier, but we’ll see how things progress.
I don’t plan on returning for the last clay-court tournaments. It makes more sense for me to come back on grass, especially as we’re getting closer to those events," Raonic said at the end of his interview with the media.
