Roddick believes in Gauff: "There's a lot to expect from Coco".

Roddick believes in Gauff: There's a lot to expect from Coco.

Coco Gauff had a good season last year.

The American had a slump in the middle of the year, but managed to add three new titles to her list of honours: Auckland (against Svitolina), Beijing (against Muchova) and the WTA Finals (against Zheng).

She also reached world No. 2 in June, confirming her consistency season after season.

In his podcast, Andy Roddick reviews the 20-year-old's progress, even if she still needs to improve her serve.

"If your second serve is really bad, and your least favorite side to hit the tennis ball is your forehand side, you're going to be in trouble.

So the more second serves you have to negotiate, the more repetitions you'll have on the forehand side.

When that happens, she's hitting forehands from a defensive position, and she's getting abused on that side," analyses Roddick.

"Now imagine if the tour players knew about this and still weren't able to stop it.

I'm oddly more impressed with how she's handled the low points of her year than with what she's done when she's won titles this season.

Because if that's how she handles the tough times, getting that win against Iga in Riyadh, in a match against her bête noire (11 wins to 2 for Swiatek), is a big, big indication.

Congratulations to Coco. We know she's going to be great. I can't wait for 2025.

She's had time in the off-season to adjust her intake, she's committed to making that change. There's a lot to look forward to from Coco."
