Roddick critiques Djokovic: "If he wants to speak out, he should really do it"
Andy Roddick questions Djokovic's statements about the "tennis monopoly" and calls on the Serb to be more transparent.
The Serb, involved through the PTPA (Professional Tennis Players Association), recently denounced a "monopoly" in tennis governance, accusing certain media and institutions of serving their own interests. Statements that did not leave the American indifferent.
"When he talks about a monopoly, what is he referring to: the tour monopoly? The Grand Slam monopoly? Both? He talks about the 'system' but which specific system is he referring to?
I think Novak has very good intentions. Players generally like him and have learned to value him as a genuine leader of this sport. However, if he wants to speak and say certain things, then he should say them as they really are.
Yes, I think there should be a players' union, but I think it's the players themselves who must decide who the leader of the movement is. I don't think you can create a union and claim to represent everyone. That's not how it works and it certainly hasn't worked for the PTPA."
