Royer, top seed in Hangzhou qualifiers, advances to the main draw
Valentin Royer is in excellent form as he qualifies for the main draw of the Hangzhou tournament. The Frenchman, who is experiencing the Asian tour for the first time, aims to make a strong impression.
Royer successfully cleared the hurdle of the qualifiers at the ATP 250 tournament in Hangzhou, China. The Frenchman, ranked 88th in the world, defeated Charles Chen (6-3, 7-5) and Eliot Spizzirri (7-5, 4-6, 6-3) to compete in the main draw. He will soon learn his first-round opponent, who will be either Sun Fajing, Camilo Ugo Carabelli, Matteo Berrettini, or Marin Cilic.
He will be the fourth French player in the draw, joining Corentin Moutet (number 4 seed and exempt from the first round), Arthur Cazaux (who will face Matteo Arnaldi), and Adrian Mannarino (who takes on Wu Yibing). To recall, the 24-year-old is on the Asian tour for the first time in his career.
