Rumors about a potential schedule change for the Australian Open?

Rumors about a potential schedule change for the Australian Open?

Could the tennis calendar undergo a drastic shift? Following the extension of Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 events to twelve days—now taking up more space in the schedule—the Australian Open might see a change in its positioning.

At least, that’s what Patrick McEnroe, a consultant for TNT Sports, hinted at, mentioning "rumors." The Australian Open, which has been held in January since 1987, could potentially be moved to February.

This shift would allow Middle Eastern tournaments (Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai, and soon Riyad?) to kick off the tennis season.

There’s no doubt that this report from the former American player will spark plenty of discussion in the coming days and weeks.
