Ruud: "My main achievement of the year? Getting engaged".
Interviewed on court after his victory over Tomas Machac 7-6, 5-7, 6-4, Casper Ruud reflects on his year 2024 and talks about his hard-fought match.
He says: "I got engaged in the off-season. It's my main achievement of the year. It's a great moment for me and my fiancée, Maria. It's my first match as an engaged man.
I think everything went well. It's a great way to start the season. If every match is going to be this complicated, it's not going to be easy. But I'm happy to be starting this new season.
I'm happy to be back in Sydney, because I love playing in front of this crowd. I have a lot of good memories here."
