Rybakina, 2022 Champion, Falls in the 3rd Round at Wimbledon

After defeating Avanesyan and Sakkari, Rybakina faced Denmark's Tauson (No. 22) in the 3rd round of Wimbledon.

Seeded No. 11 in the tournament, Rybakina failed to hold her ground against the world No. 22 player. Unable to break her opponent, she lost in just 2 hours with a score of 7-6, 6-3. However, she did earn two set points in the first set.

A semifinalist last year, the Kazakh player joins the growing list of seeded players eliminated in the first week. Ranked in the Top 5 earlier this year, she has gradually slipped in the WTA rankings and now sits at No. 13.

As for Tauson, she secured her first-ever spot in the Wimbledon Round of 16, as well as her 4th victory over a Top 20 player this season. She will next face the winner of the match between Swiatek and Collins.

Well that's disappointing. But inconsistency in the women's game is to be expected more often than not.
