In Control, Swiatek Cruises Past Collins in Wimbledon Third Round

Swiatek faced American Collins in the third round of Wimbledon.
Without difficulty, the former world No. 1 wasted no time in dispatching her opponent. In just 1 hour and 15 minutes, she secured a 6-2, 6-3 victory to advance to the tournament's round of 16. Swiatek appeared in excellent form and unshakable during the match. With an 86% first-serve points won, she left very few opportunities for the world No. 54.
Following her heavy defeat in their last encounter, the Pole exacted revenge on the American. For context, she had lost 6-1, 7-5 in the third round of the WTA 1000 in Rome last May.
Now, she holds the 11th-highest win percentage in women’s singles Grand Slam tournaments in the Open Era (82.8%, 96-20), surpassing Martina Hingis (82.7%).
Though she admits grass isn’t her favorite surface, Swiatek seems to improve year after year on it, having even reached the Bad Homburg final earlier this season. In the next round, she will face Tauson, who defeated 2022 champion Rybakina.
