Rybakina avoids a scare against Boulter to advance to the 3rd round
While she was cruising against Katie Boulter, Elena Rybakina had to work harder in the second set to eventually win 6-0, 7-5 in 1 hour and 15 minutes of play.
After 43 minutes on Stadium 2, Rybakina seemed in full control of her match against the British player, leading 6-0, 3-2. However, guilty of a slight lapse in her service game, she saw Boulter convert her only break point of the match to be one game away from forcing a third set.
The world No. 7 then raised her level, winning four consecutive games from 3-5 to 7-5 to close out the match.
On a streak of eight wins at Indian Wells since her title in 2023 (she missed the 2024 edition), Rybakina will face Clara Tauson or Mirra Andreeva for a spot in the quarterfinals.
