Rybakina Receives Wildcard to Play in Strasbourg
Going through a rough patch after third-round exits in Madrid and Rome, Elena Rybakina will compete in an additional tournament before Roland-Garros.
The Kazakh player, who has dropped to 12th in the WTA rankings, had requested a wildcard to participate in the Strasbourg tournament. The organizers granted her request, further strengthening the field for the 2025 edition after Jessica Pegula received one a few days earlier.
Rybakina reached the final of the event in 2020 but was defeated by Elina Svitolina.
With her inclusion, nine Top 20 players will now compete in Alsace, including Paula Badosa, Emma Navarro, Daria Kasatkina, Barbora Krejcikova, Beatriz Haddad Maia, and Liudmila Samsonova. Last year’s runner-up, Danielle Collins, will also be in attendance.
