Sabalenka Advances Past Mertens to Reach Stuttgart Semifinals

Sabalenka defeated Mertens with a score of 6-4, 6-1 in the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 in Stuttgart.

Coming off her victory in Miami, the Belarusian arrived in Germany full of confidence and has now secured her third semifinal appearance at the tournament. Last year, the world No. 1 fell to Vondrousova in the quarterfinals (3-6, 6-3, 7-5).

She will face the winner of the match between Gauff and Paolini in the semifinals.
