Sabalenka responds to PTPA actions: "I would like players to receive a higher percentage of the money they earn in tournaments"
Qualified for the third round of the WTA 1000 in Miami after her opening win against Tomova (6-3, 6-0) this Thursday, Aryna Sabalenka took the time to discuss the PTPA initiative launched against the ATP, WTA, ITF, and ITIA.
In a press conference, the world No. 1 admitted that she had not delved into the details of the matter but had a specific request for the future of tennis:
"Honestly, I haven’t had much time to look into the information because I didn’t want to dive into it.
I wanted to stay focused on my game and not get angry or anything else regarding this topic.
One thing I would like to see is that all players, not just WTA players, receive a higher percentage of the money they earn in tournaments, especially in Grand Slams.
I think it’s fair. If you look at other sports, the percentage works a bit differently, so that’s the only wish I have."
