WTA 1000 Miami: Sabalenka Serene, Rybakina Exits in the Second Round

The third day of competition continues in Miami with the first matches of the second round in the women's draw.
Aryna Sabalenka, world No. 1 and finalist at Indian Wells, started her tournament in the best possible way by defeating Viktoriya Tomova in straight sets (6-3, 6-0) in 58 minutes of play. In the next round, she will undoubtedly have an advantage against Elena-Gabriela Ruse, ranked 102nd in the world and coming through the qualifiers.
On the other hand, the tournament already ends here for Elena Rybakina, a two-time finalist of the event (2023 and 2024), who was eliminated in her opening match by Ashlyn Krueger (6-4, 2-6, 6-4).
The American secured the first Top 10 win of her career, while the Kazakh could drop out of the Top 10 by losing the points from her final last year.
Krueger will have a great opportunity in the third round as she faces Leylah Fernandez, who defeated Alycia Parks (7-6, 6-3) in her match.
