Sabalenka wasted no time defeating Russia's Rakhimova. Scheduled to open on Court Philippe-Chatrier, the world number 1 secured her victory in just under 1 hour with a score of 6-1, 6-0.
A quarter-finalist last year in Paris, the Belarusian had left the capital, eliminated by the young Russian Mirra Andreeva, who was 17 at the time. This season, Sabalenka approaches the tournament with 12 victories on clay and a title in Madrid. Since 2023, the 27-year-old player has an impressive Grand Slam statistic with a 90.6% win rate and a record of 48 wins and 5 losses.
In the second round, she will face the winner of the match between Teichmann and Stefanini.
