Sabalenka to Join Serena Williams in WTA Rankings History
Aryna Sabalenka will play in the Wimbledon quarterfinals tomorrow for the first time since 2023, after missing the previous edition due to injury.
She will face Laura Siegemund, ranked 104th in the world, in an attempt to reach the semifinals.
Meanwhile, the world No. 1 continues to solidify her current dominance on the women's tour, as she will reach the milestone of 12,000 WTA ranking points next Monday. And she does so with a lead of over 4,000 points over world No. 2 Coco Gauff.
The Belarusian will thus become the second player in history to achieve this total after Serena Williams, who managed to accumulate 13,615 points in 2013. If she wins Wimbledon, Sabalenka could even surpass this record with 13,640 points.
