Sierra Honored in Wimbledon Museum After Historic Run
Solana Sierra, ranked 101st in the world, delivered the best tournament of her young career at Wimbledon. Initially defeated in the qualifying rounds by Talia Gibson, the Argentine later received a lucky loser spot in the main draw.
She made the most of her second chance, managing to advance to the round of 16 with victories over Gadecki (6-2, 7-6), Boulter (6-7, 6-2, 6-1), and Bucsa (7-5, 1-6, 6-1). This marked a unique achievement in the tournament's history, as no lucky loser had ever reached that stage before.
Before her departure, tournament officials asked her to donate a racket and the outfit she wore during her matches, as reported by journalist Sebastian Torok on X (formerly Twitter). These items will be displayed in the Wimbledon Museum.
A well-deserved recognition for the Mar del Plata native, who will break into the top 100 next Monday, virtually ranked 66th in the world.
