Series of Withdrawals: Qinwen Zheng's Season End Turns into a Nightmare
Qinwen Zheng, constrained by a still-fragile elbow, withdraws from two more tournaments. A rollercoaster end to the season that will disappoint her fans.
After her withdrawal in Beijing during the third round, Qinwen Zheng was aware that her right elbow had not sufficiently recovered to withstand the series of matches.
A premature return that had been acknowledged by the Chinese player in a press conference.
Unsurprisingly, she announced on Friday her withdrawal from the WTA 1000 in Wuhan as well as the WTA 500 in Ningbo, two other tournaments held in China.
She will lose the points from her final played in Wuhan last season and will officially drop out of the top 10.
