Video - Sabalenka Arrives in Wuhan to Defend Her Title
Wuhan is about to come alive: Aryna Sabalenka returns to the circuit after a short break, determined to impose her dominance and shine during a week of intense competition.
Just over a month after securing her second consecutive title at the US Open, Aryna Sabalenka is set to make her competitive comeback. The world No. 1 had decided to skip the Beijing tournament in order to rest and be ready to defend her title in Wuhan.
She arrived in the Chinese city on Thursday and was given a grand welcome by the event organizers (see video below). Last year, the Belarusian triumphed in the final against Qinwen Zheng (6-3, 5-7, 6-3).
Unlike Beijing, the WTA 1000 in Wuhan is played over one week. It will start on Monday, with the final taking place on Sunday, October 12.
