Ben Shelton reached the 2nd round of the Paris Masters 1000 after a hard-fought victory over Corentin Moutet.
The two men battled it out for over two and a half hours, much to the delight of the spectators on Court n°1.
Moutet had managed to prolong the suspense and the match by saving two match points in the tie-break of the second set.
But it was Shelton, thanks to a final forehand winner, who took the match in three sets (6-3, 6-7, 6-3).
In the 2nd round, the American will face Arthur Cazaux, who replaces Jannik Sinner in the draw following his withdrawal.
