"She's like a goddess here, it was very emotional for me," Frech pays tribute to Venus Williams

Victorious in the second round of Washington against Venus Williams (6-2, 6-2), Frech had to handle the pressure of facing a legend of world tennis. At 18 years her junior, the Polish player wasn’t even born when Williams began her professional career. Interviewed after her win, she made sure to pay tribute to the seven-time Grand Slam champion.
"She's a superstar, she's like a goddess here, so this match was very emotional for me. I can’t even imagine still being on the court in 17 years, it’s impossible! It was truly an amazing match and a huge honor to play against her.
I won a lot of points from the first serve, and I really tried to move her around the court, playing in different directions with drop shots and slices. I think I played well tactically, and I’m really happy to be in the quarterfinals."
In the next round, she will face Kazakhstan’s Rybakina.
