Sinner Guaranteed to Remain World No. 1 Until His Return at the Rome Masters 1000
Jannik Sinner is currently away from the ATP tour. In early February, the Italian—who won the Australian Open in his only tournament played in 2025—accepted a three-month suspension for negligence by members of his team following his positive test for clostebol at Indian Wells last year.
His suspension is in effect until May 4, the date from which he will be able to return to competition at the Rome Masters 1000. As a result, Sinner is not present in Monte-Carlo and will also miss the Madrid tournament. However, this does not prevent him from remaining world No. 1.
Moreover, Jannik Sinner, who yesterday began his 44th week atop the ATP rankings, received good news this Tuesday.
With Alexander Zverev's defeat in the second round of the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000 against Matteo Berrettini (2-6, 6-3, 7-5), the 23-year-old Italian is now guaranteed to stay as world No. 1 for the next month. Upon his return to the courts in Rome in early May, he will still be the rankings leader before starting his clay-court season at home.
