Sinner Honest About His Return to Rome: "I Have No Expectations for This Tournament, My Goal Is Roland Garros"
Back in Rome for his first tournament since his suspension, Sinner will face the winner of the match between Navone and Cina in his opening round. Meanwhile, the Italian spoke during the media day. He addressed his suspension as well as his expectations for this Masters 1000:
"At first, I didn’t want to accept the agreement with WADA because I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong. In the end, I’m just glad there were no Grand Slams during those three months. Now, I have no expectations for this tournament. My goal is Roland Garros. We’ll see how the first match goes and what my level is.
We’ve done our best these past few months, and I’m feeling fresh, ready to play. I think I’m just a simple 23-year-old guy. I’m good at tennis, but it doesn’t change the world. I take things as they come, and I just love playing tennis. Success can’t change who I am.
I always remember where I started. Being back in Rome and playing in front of so many people again is nice. I think I’m not fake, and people appreciate that," explained the world No. 1 in comments relayed by Tennis World Italia.
