Sinner: "It broke my heart".
Jannik Sinner was one, if not the big absentee from the Paris Olympics.
World number 1 and author of a prodigious season, albeit disrupted by a few physical worries, the Italian had to endure one of the greatest possible disappointments for a professional tennis player in 2024: forgoing the Olympic event.
Interviewed at a press conference on the sidelines of the start of the tournament in Canada (August 6-12), Sinner tried to put a positive spin on things: "It broke my heart not to be able to go to Paris, which was one of the main objectives of my season.
However, sometimes you can't help but accept unfavourable situations and try, even if it's not easy, to find the positive in them.
Lorenzo (Musetti) went home with the bronze medal: that means an Italian is happy and I'm happy for him and for Italy."
