Sinner Surpasses Another Legend in Consecutive Weeks as World No. 1
Jannik Sinner, the world No. 1 since June 2024, now holds 12,030 points as of this Monday, with a 3,430-point lead over his closest rival, Carlos Alcaraz.
The Italian, more dominant than ever atop the ATP rankings, is about to enter the part of the season where he will have many points to defend, following his titles in Cincinnati and the US Open last year. While awaiting his return to competition in August, Sinner is spending his 59th consecutive week as the world No. 1.
This milestone makes him the seventh player in history with the most consecutive weeks at the top, surpassing John McEnroe’s 58-week streak. Now, he will need 17 more weeks—just over three months—to overtake Lleyton Hewitt’s 75-week run.
For context, Roger Federer remains the undisputed leader of this ranking, having spent 237 consecutive weeks as world No. 1 between February 2004 and August 2008.
