Stats: Berrettini Joins the List of Most Retirements Since 2021

Facing Ruud in the third round of the Rome Masters 1000, Berrettini was forced to retire due to another abdominal injury, a recurring issue for the world No. 30, as this marked his seventh retirement since 2021.
He now joins Nishioka and Rune and sits just behind Draper, who has eight retirements. The player with the most retirements on the main tour is Dimitrov (10).
In the post-match press conference, the Italian reflected on his unfortunate withdrawal:
"Unfortunately, I had to retire again, even though Rome was one of my goals. I didn’t want to quit! But if I don’t retire, I know what happens next: I end up sidelined for three months, screaming in pain with every sneeze. I didn’t want that to happen again. I think—and hope—I stopped in time."
