Svitolina Crushes Ruse and Advances to the Final of the Rouen Tournament
Elina Svitolina, the top seed in Normandy, has lived up to expectations all week and did so again today against Elena-Gabriela Ruse. The Ukrainian triumphed with a score of 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinals in just one hour of play.
Favored to lift the trophy in Rouen at the start of the week, Svitolina is now just one step away from winning her first WTA Tour title since 2023. She will face Olga Danilovic in tomorrow's final.
In her post-match interview, the world No. 18 revealed the secrets behind her motivation this week in Rouen:
"Gaël (Monfils, her husband) told me he would attend the tournament final if I made it. He’ll probably come to support me tomorrow."
