Swiatek after her first United Cup win: "I'm still the same Iga".
In her first match of the season, Iga Swiatek made no bones about it against Malene Helgo.
The world number 2 set her team on the road to victory over Norway with a 6-1, 6-0 win in barely an hour's play.
The Pole spoke to Andrea Petkovic about her feelings on the court after winning her first match in this new edition of the United Cup.
"Today, I'm very happy with everything I've done. I'm satisfied with my performance.
Sometimes it's not easy to play for your country, it adds a bit of pressure. As you can see, half the stadium was rooting for Poland.
I get excited every time the season starts. During the pre-season, I didn't change much in my preparation, I like to do the same work as in previous years.
I'm hoping to bring a bit more variety to my serve and work a bit more on my technique. It's not just a question of results, but also being able to maintain quality on a more regular basis.
It's a whole series of little things. I'm still the same Iga. I feel good, happy to be able to play tennis.
I'm hoping to have more perspective this season on what I'm doing, maybe that'll be the novelty, but it's difficult in our sport.
For the moment, I'm just trying to fulfil my objectives one after the other, concentrating on the Australian tour, and then we'll see about the rest," she explained.
