Swiatek after her victory against Zheng: "That painful defeat at the Olympics helped me"

Once again dominant, Iga Swiatek defeated Zheng Qinwen (6-3, 6-3) in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells. For the fourth consecutive year, the Polish player has reached the semifinals of the Californian tournament.
However, this match had a special significance for Swiatek, the world number 2, who was coming off a painful loss against the Chinese player in the semifinals of the Paris Olympics last summer.
This straight-sets victory allowed Swiatek to avenge her last encounter with Zheng and secure her seventh win in eight matches against her opponent of the day.
After this convincing victory, the Polish player addressed the press conference and assured that she had not revisited their match on the Parisian clay when approaching this new showdown.
"Wim (Fissette, her coach) analyzed that match, and we talked about it a bit, but apart from the fact that it's the only match I lost against Qinwen and that I wanted to learn from it, it didn't cross my mind too much because I knew today was a hardcourt match and I knew what I did wrong at the Olympics.
The surface didn't help me at the Olympics because those high-bouncing balls are hard to control when you know how they're going to bounce, which is the case on clay.
I knew, given the conditions here, that it would be a different match. Of course, that painful defeat helped me. Now, I know it's not pleasant to lose to someone, no matter the context.
So you always want to get your revenge, but it's nothing personal. I think all players feel this way after losing to a particular opponent," she told Punto De Break.
