Swiatek responds to Halep on her doping case: "Each of us faced a different problem"
In an interview with Polish television, Iga Swiatek returned to the doping affair that rocked her at the end of the 2024 season.
The Pole, who admitted to having "cried" and being in a "panic" when the positive test was announced, responded to the comments made by Simona Halep this week.
The Romanian and former world No. 1 had complained in recent days that she had been treated differently to Swiatek and Sinner.
Swiatek: "It's difficult to compare myself with Jannik and Simona. Each of us was faced with a different problem.
I think this is a matter for the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) rather than the players.
My fate, like that of the others, was in their hands and they decide the outcome of each case.
Above all, I hope that this process is objective, that everything is done in accordance with the rules and that no one judges a player in any way because of it."
Iga Swiatek also revealed that he had spent almost 100,000 euros to resolve the case, paying for a specialist lawyer and expert tests.
