Tabur defeats Evans and reaches the third round of qualifiers at Roland Garros

A great story in these early qualifiers, Clément Tabur wants to keep dreaming. In his third participation in the Parisian Grand Slam, the 25-year-old Frenchman, invited by the organizers, had won his first victory against Tu Li in the previous round (3-6, 6-3, 7-5).
The world number 311 managed to secure a high-profile second round against Daniel Evans. Having dropped to 215th in the world, the 34-year-old Briton was once ranked 21st ATP and twice a Grand Slam round of 16 finalist (Australian Open 2017 and US Open 2021), remaining a tenacious opponent.
In recent months, he played and won the longest match in US Open history against Karen Khachanov in 5 hours and 35 minutes. Evans, who has experience on the tour, seemed to start as the favorite.
That was without considering Tabur, following his first round form, who played a very high-quality match to overthrow his opponent of the day (24 winners against only 8 unforced errors, compared to 6 winners for Evans).
Impressively, the Frenchman conceded only one break point in the final game and won in straight sets in just over an hour of play (6-1, 6-3). He will face Filip Cristian Jianu to attempt to reach the main draw of this 2025 edition.
