"Thanks to his experience, I really see the connection between tennis and fitness," Rune justifies hiring Sinner's former fitness coach

Marco Panichi was Jannik Sinner's fitness coach from September 2024 until Roland-Garros 2025, as well as Novak Djokovic's for many years. He was recently hired by Holger Rune's team.
For Ziggo Sport, Rune explained this choice and discussed his physical condition: "I spent a few days with Marco in Monaco, and for me, it was very demanding physical training.
It wasn’t just about getting stronger or lifting weights because that’s not the goal of tennis.
You obviously need some strength, but there’s a lot to work on in terms of coordination, biomechanics, and I think he challenged me in a way I’d never experienced before.
Thanks to his years of experience working with Novak and some time with Sinner, I really see the link between fitness and tennis.
I think he has an exceptional talent for this. So I’m thrilled to work with him."
Rune will face Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in his opening match in Toronto.
