Gaël Monfils fell in the first round of the Canada Masters 1000 against Tomas Barrios Vera.
This tournament has the unique feature of alternating each year between Toronto and Montreal, and the Frenchman stated in a press conference that it was likely the last time he would play on these courts.

He said: "This was the last time I played in Toronto. We’ll have to wait two years before playing here again, so I’ll practically never get to play here again.
I think I’ll be too old by then, so I believe this was my last time here. I thought about it as I left the court. It’s a shame, but this was the last time I played here.
