"That shows I still have a lot of work to do," Raducanu discusses her struggles against the world's top players
Despite significant progress in recent months, Raducanu still struggles when facing the world's best players. Soundly defeated in the third round of the US Open by Rybakina (6-1, 6-2), the British player spoke about the difficulties she encounters when the level of competition rises:
"When these players are playing really well, it's tough. Every time I've played against Swiatek and Rybakina, they've played incredibly. When they play against me, they feel they have to prove they are at the top and that they are there for a reason. In every match, they've proven that to me.
So, even though I'm improving, performing better, and maybe earning a bit more respect, the top players have definitely raised their level. But I'll take it as a compliment that they've decided to bring their best against me, even though at the same time it shows that I still have a lot of work to do."
For context, Raducanu has not managed to advance past the third round in a Grand Slam this year.
