The FFT Votes for Change to Preserve Its Roland-Garros Tournament

To further and permanently protect the history of the Roland-Garros tournament, the French Tennis Federation (FFT) voted to amend its statutes following a General Assembly held on June 20, 2025.

Indeed, the 169 elected delegates of the FFT approved a measure ensuring that the Federation cannot, under any circumstances, transfer full or partial ownership of the Roland-Garros tournament to a third party. This provision is now integrated into Article 1 of the FFT's statutes, which defines the Federation's fundamental objectives.

"Roland-Garros is much more than just a tournament. It is an exceptional asset that we must safeguard for future generations. I would like to commend past leadership, which has steadfastly preserved this legacy. I am thinking particularly of Philippe Chatrier, who fully understood the importance of developing the Roland-Garros tournament for the benefit of French tennis.

In this spirit, it is our responsibility to adopt a long-term vision for the Federation and to protect the assets that ensure its independence and its ability to serve the 7,000 tennis clubs across France," stated Gilles Moretton, President of the FFT.
