The idea of trying to end his incredible streak really drives me crazy," Musetti shows his ambition ahead of the clash against Sinner
Despite a very difficult American tour, Musetti continues his steady progress in this US Open. Although he conceded one set in the tournament so far (against Mpetshi Perricard), the Italian has shown strength in the following rounds.
Now qualified for the quarterfinals, he will face his compatriot, Jannik Sinner. A major challenge for the world number 10, but one that could, in case of victory, break the world number one's sensational hard-court streak:
"He is the best player in the world. It is the greatest challenge we have in our sport. The idea of trying to end this incredible streak he is building really drives me crazy, in a good way. He has the pressure to win, so I will try to take advantage of that."
Musetti also shared that his coaches helped him modify his serve. A wise choice, according to him, which has greatly reduced his margin of error:
"We worked on simplifying the motion. Before, I tended to put more weight on my right foot, which created a wobble. Now, my feet stay still, I load up on myself, and it's easier. Today, I felt very confident with my serve, and it allowed me to avoid a lot of errors.
