"Their mentalities are completely opposite in tie-breaks," Courier compares Nadal and Djokovic
In an interview shared by Tennis World Italia, former American player Jim Courier drew a comparison between the two tennis legends: Nadal and Djokovic. According to him, their approaches to decisive moments like tie-breaks are entirely different:
"If you look at Nadal and Djokovic, their mentalities are completely opposite in tie-breaks. Nadal always wanted to be in control, he didn’t want to play defensively, so he relied on attack. On Djokovic’s side, his instinct pushes him to step back and wait, even though he has done otherwise, like against Alcaraz at the Olympics."
This statement echoes the statistic of 13 consecutive tie-breaks won by the Serb in Grand Slams during the 2023 season.
