Thiem optimistic about Zverev: "He's one of the favorites at Roland Garros"

A two-time finalist at Roland Garros (2018 and 2019), Thiem has proven he was one of the best players on the clay-court circuit. Retired since 2024, the Austrian was present in Munich for Zverev's victory in the final.
He took the opportunity to discuss the German's prospects. According to him, the world No. 2 is a favorite for the Parisian Grand Slam:
"We saw it in Australia—he did very well by reaching the final against Sinner. I think the slight dip in form he had afterward was completely normal. Today, he has recovered and at the right time.
There are still two important tournaments before Roland Garros, but Zverev is one of the three big favorites alongside Alcaraz and Sinner. The fact that he can win the title at every Major is entirely realistic for him."
Zverev is competing in the Madrid Masters 1000 and will face the winner of the match between Bautista Agut and Munar.
